Papercut FAQ

Here is some general information about my papercuts.Customized Designs

Designs can be customized with special themes, such as animals, favorite hobby or activities, places the ocean, etc. or anything meaningful, like a memento or special image.

Personalized Designs
Names and phrases can be incorporated into designs -- a child's name, the bat mitzvah girl, the names of the couple being married, etc. To do this, I need the name or names properly spelled -- in Hebrew or English, whatever is preferred.
A phrase or other expression ("mazel tov" "Shalom") can also be used, as long as I have the correct spelling.

Colors
Because this is paper, the range of colors is almost unlimited. You can chose, or let me select. There are a minimum of two different colors in any single design (the papercut and the background) but sometimes I add more.

Size
Most of my recent work is 5" x 7"; 8" x 10"; 10" x 10" in that range, but larger designs can also be created.

Turnaround Time
Generally, I can complete a design in about a month, based on when it might be needed and my own schedule. Most orders are done enough in advance for me to deliver by the agreed-to date (like for a bar mitzvah gift, a housewarming, etc.) especially if they have to be framed.

Framing
Prices are based on sending you the finished papercut unframed which makes it easy to send and hard to damage. However, I can supply inexpensive frames, or make arrangements for professional framing if desired. (I have a very good framer here in New York.)

Costs
Costs will vary, based on the size of the piece and the complexity of the design. Most are in the range of $ 100 - 350. But I am always willing to negotiate.

All Designs are One of a Kind
I have a few motifs that I use often, and several non-personalized designs that I repeat, such as for mezuzahs and simple 'Shalom' wall plaques, but I do not have any 'standard' designs. Each piece is original, one of a kind and done by hand.

Multiple Copies
I can offer multiple copies, such as for an invitation, with duplication done by laser cut-out. Price based on the complexity of the design and the number of copies.
